Project Girl is back and has new projects!
Un-Mediafy Your Life!!! Come experience this cool art-based workshop for girls, twice a month. Project Girl workshops give girls the tools to look at media with smarter eyes.
Project Girl workshops give you the opportunity to create incredible artwork, hang out with other girls, make new friends and take what you’ve learned about media back to your friends at your school. Returning Project Girls welcome, NEW projects.
Project Girl workshops will begin a process of girl-led activism! Workshops are designed to help make you more aware of the harmful effects of media messages. Together we will learn to critically examine our media-based culture and explore key media literacy issues affecting girls. The workshops will explore the following topics:
1) basic media literacy concepts
2) stereotypes and labeling
3) body image and the beauty myth
4) consumerism
5) real girl power
6) sisterhood
Cost: $100 (scholarships are available)
Time: 2:45 – 4:45
Dates: Workshops will take place on the following Thursdays:
February 10 & 17 March 3 & 17 April 7 & 21 May 12
Location: Jefferson Middle School
Plus, the cool Project Girl artwork created by you will be part of a public art show and you will get to help create the second edition Project Girl magaZINE. Your artwork will help inspire other girls throughout Wisconsin and beyond!
